Meat Lovers and Low Carb Dieters in Washington DC- REJOICE! Urban Butcher in Silver Spring, MD serves some of the best meat in the area. This locally owned restaurant is situated directly on Georgia Avenue. I have been going to Urban Butcher since it opened a couple of years ago. They claim, “Best Steak in DC.” I have to agree.
Peaks:
- Obviously, the meat. Gotta try menu items:
- Blue Crab and Avocado Salad – perfect for girls if you’re not too hungry but craving something savory. Melt in your mouth, buttery crab and avocado chunks. To die for! Also KETO friendly 🙂
- Meatballs – Can you say comfort food? Picture eating a plate of meatballs served in a cast iron skillet with piping hot fresh tomato sauce and fresh basil. Not to mention, the huge thick piece of bread it is served with.
- Pastrami – MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! This pastrami is cut so thick. Unbelievable flavor. Served with fresh, grainy mustard. I might chose this as my last meal 🙂
- Beef Tenderloin or Rib-eye – can’t go wrong. Melt in your mouth steak. You can’t go wrong meat lovers. I promise!!
- Steak and Fries – Order this item if you’re not too hungry and don’t want to break the bank for some quality meat. Still high quality beef. I substituted brussel sprouts for the fries.
- Truffle Mac and Cheese -great side. Can never go wrong.
- Happy Hour:
- They have a great Happy Hour Menu, especially on Sundays (all day). Great bites and drink selection.
- Lavender Margarita – So tasty! Problem is- you’ll drink it too fast. Thank goodness it’s on special 🙂
- Daily Selection Sandwich – Love this option!! Pray for the pastrami.
- Bar
- The bar is awesome, especially in the summer. They open their “garage doors” and park chairs against the bar on the sidewalk. Once it’s nice out, get there early to get one of these seats. Dog friendly too 🙂
Pit:
- Only pit: prices. The meats are market price. You get amazing quality but it comes at a steep price. The rib-eye can be upwards of $100+ for 20oz of meat. Good to share. Good for date night. Not for an every weekend occurrence. I say: try it all! AND enjoy!! You only live once, right? 🙂
Xoxo,
Monica
