Keto Beef Shawarma

I needed a flavor kick so I decided to make Beef Shawarma.  This recipe is so good and so incredibly easy!  Very flavorful and satisfying for your “takeout” cravings.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1.5lb 80% ground beef
  • 1/2 Sour Cream
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • salt, pepper
  • 1/4 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tsp hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 package of Trader Joe’s riced cauliflower (in Frozen section)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • Diced scallion onions (garnish)

Sauce:

  • 1/2c sour cream
  • garlic salt
  • onion powder
  • 2 tbsp beef broth or chicken broth

 

Steps:

  1. Mix the ground beef and the sour cream.  Set aside.
  2. Make the sauce while the beef is marinating.  Add all ingredients to a bowl.  Mix to combine.  Add as much liquid to get the desired consistency (I like it thicker so I don’t add as much broth).
  3. Preheat a pan to medium high heat.  Add butter.  When melted, add the meat / sour cream mixture.
  4. Add spices and lemon juice.
  5. Once cooked through and crumbled, remove beef from pan.  In the same pan, add the riced cauliflower.  Allow to cook for 2-3 minutes.  Add the soy sauce.  Continue to cook until done.
  6. Plate up: Cauli rice, beef, side of sauce + diced onions for garnish.
